The Vagina Monologues is coooooooooming.....

Looks like we're doing it again..........The VAGINA Monologues that is.

Join us as 15 Rhode Island women will raise their voices in Eve Ensler's Obie award-winning play, celebrating all that is female.  This year's event will take place on Sunday, March 6th, at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, at 4:30PM, right after our Red Tent day for women (see the post below).

This year's Spotlight Campaign monologue will be about the women of Haiti, and proceeds from the event will be donated to both the RI Crisis Assistance Center and the women of Haiti.

Tickets will be $25.00 and include a yummy dessert buffet provided by Russell Morin Catering.

Our cast this year includes women from all over the state - ages 18 through 67.  Stay tuned for more info about the cast.  Our first rehearsal will be on January 8th, and our posters and promo info will be online soon, so stay tuned!  It's going to be an afternoon to remember!  (Tickets will go on sale in February).

This years sponsors are....

We are fortunate this year to have four major sponsors for our events.

The very first sponsor to sign up was the wonderful Providence Pinup folks. Not only are they sponsoring both "The Vagina Monologues" and the Red Tent events, they will be providing pinup makeup, hair and wardrobe for all of our promotional photos and the short film we're hoping to have completed by the end of January. Just gotta love that Lulu Locks!

Our second sponsor to sign up was The Providence Phoenix. Just like last year, the Phoenix has offered to put together a four page full color pullout section to run right before the events, with lots of information about what's going on. Yay to Dayna at the Phoenix - we love working with you! And your mom's a great volunteer too!

Our third sponsor this year is Rhodes on the Pawtuxet and Russell Morin Catering. Rhodes will be providing the space (and what a space it is!) for both the Monologues and the Red Tent on Sunday, March 6th. We're working with Aaron Messina and looking forward to a great time! Russell Morin has been gracious enough to provide a yummy dessert buffet for the lucky folks who'll be attending the Monologues which starts at 4:30PM, so bring your appetite, along with your girlfriends!

Our fourth sponsor this year is ATR Treehouse. They will be providing us with the sound and lighting for our production of the Monologues. This will be the first year we've worked with them and can't wait to see all the great stuff they can do!

So we're off to a great start already! The countdown has begun so mark your calendars for Sunday, March 6th for both the Red Tent and The Vagina Monologues. Red Tent runs from 9:00Am till 4:00PM and The Vagina Monologues begins at 4:30PM and runs till 6:00PM. Tickets will go on sale in February. We're looking forward to a full house in a great venue!

V-Day Rhode Island 2011 is gearing up...

Well everyone, it's officially the start of the 2011 V-Day Rhode Island productions. That means we're setting up meeting schedules and creating committees to organize the 2011 events for V-Day, an international organization started by Eve Ensler to raise funds and awareness about violence against women & girls around the globe.

In 2011, we will be hosting an amazing event at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on Sunday, March 6th.

Beginning at 9:00AM, we will host the RED TENT day for women.
From nine till four, you will be able to pay a general admission fee of $20.00
and enter our space where you will be able to receive (all at no cost to you):

  • hair styling
  • mini facials
  • makeup applications
  • mini manicures
  • massages
  • eyebrow threading
  • reflexology
  • reiki
  • yoga classes
  • belly dancing lessons
  • kickboxing classes
  • henna tattooing
  • spray tanning
  • shop at our vendor area
  • and visit our Red Tent where women will share their stories

Planning has just begun, so if you know of anyone who would like to be on the committee, please contact Nancy at nrafi@hotmail.com and let her know. It takes a village to put an event like this together, so if you know of a local business that would like to host a table at the event, let us know that too. We hope you'll spread the word!
